Jean Batten.
Jean Batten left for New Zealand from Kent, England at 4:20 am on 5th October 1936. She had installed two petrol tanks. En route she slept little while flying day and night, even in bad weather. In Sydney at 6:30pm (nz time) on 16th October she said that know one should look for her if she went down at sea. She arrived in Auckland at 5pm. She then started her tour of the country by car and train. She was physically and mentally exhausted, so people called of her tour in christchurch so she could have a long resting time, before she left to Sydney then back to England.
